Custom Home Design Process
The type of house you choose to live in is more than a matter of personal style or taste -- it’s about your lifestyle, too. At Advanced House Plans our designers and drafters have over 100 years of combined experience in helping people bring their vision to reality. We work with a wide range of architectural influences to create home designs in styles such as Contemporary, Mediterranean, Modern, Craftsman, Traditional and more. We try to make the home design process simple by splitting it up into 5 phases.
Introduction/Contract Phase
During this phase, you will get to know us better as a company and we will get a better understanding of
what
you are looking for in your custom home. We will then put together a contract for you to review. After
approval
we will get started designing your dream home.
Gathering Phase
During this phase you will have the opportunity to send us ideas for your home including photos,
Pinterest
posts, Houzz photo books, site plans (lot survey), and any other information that will give us an idea
of
how you want your home to look.
Prelim Phase
With your ideas and goals in mind, our designers will produce sketches of floor plans and elevations
that meet your criteria. You'll have an opportunity to review the designs and we'll adjust the drawings
as necessary. Once you approve of the preliminary plans, we'll move on to the Design Phase.

Design Phase
During this phase, the major components of the design are in place and we move forward with adding
details as we develop the plans inside and out. We'll continue to incorporate your feedback - whether
notes, photos, or your own sketches - as we work to draw your plans into our software. Depending on
which package you select, we'll provide you with rough-drafts of the floor plans, electrical plans, 2D
elevations, and even 3D images, to help you understand your home design taking shape and to see where we
are in the process. Only minimal changes may be made during this phase, and anything that substantially
changes the scope or concept of the design from the preliminary phase may be considered overages. But
don't worry - we'll let you know if something you ask for starts to get to that point. Most importantly
we want to ensure you're completely satisfied with the design!

Construction Phase Once the plans have been modified during the Design Phase and we've received your approval, the project enters the Construction Documents Phase, when you will receive a watermarked final review set with all the major drawings completed. Let us know any final minor adjustments, and we'll incorporate your feedback as we conduct a thorough review of your plans to make sure they are clear, consistent, and ready for your next steps toward building your home! A final set of plans will be sent upon receipt of final payment.
